Alberta Student Number (ASN)

The Alberta Student Number (ASN) is an important tool in every learner’s educational journey. It is a unique number assigned to each Alberta learner, and allows students to

  • obtain their Alberta High School transcripts
  • apply for post-secondary studies in Alberta (universities, colleges, technical institutes, apprenticeship programs)
  • apply for post-secondary funding (loans, grants, scholarships, and bursaries)
  • apply for post-secondary funding from Alberta, if studying outside the province.

Students can find their ASN

  • online at the Learner Registry
  • on any Alberta report card from Kindergarten to Grade 12
  • on a Diploma Examination Results Statement from Alberta Education
  • on a High School Transcript of Achievement
  • on a Statement of Courses and Marks from Alberta Education

If you don't have an ASN you will need to get one

  • before you apply for post-secondary studies
  • before you apply for funding for post-secondary studies
  • if you are new to the education system in Alberta
