How to Apply
Applying for an ACES Plan grant is not difficult.
Once you have set up an RESP with an eligible RESP provider, simply ask the provider to help you fill out an application for the Alberta Centennial Education Savings (ACES) Plan.
You will need to provide the following information while completing the application:
- the name, birth date and gender of child
- the name and address of the child's parent or guardian
- evidence that the parent or guardian is an Alberta resident at time of application or time of the child’s applicable birthday
- for the $100 grants, evidence that the child is attending school and at least $100 has been deposited to an RESP on behalf of the child within one year of the application
Learn more about these eligibility requirements in Common Questions.
If you are not the child’s parent or legal guardian, or an independent child, the application form will not be complete unless it also bears the signature of the child's parent or legal guardian.
Your RESP provider will take the application form and submit it electronically to the government for processing. Funds are normally deposited into eligible RESPs within 6 to 8 weeks.
NOTE: The application must be completed within six years of the child’s applicable birthday.
