Funding Your Education and Training

Costs

The cost to attend post-secondary involves more than just tuition. Consider the following expenses:

  • tuition and mandatory fees
  • books and supplies
  • living costs (rent/mortgage, utilities)
  • transportation
  • child care
  • medical needs
  • food, clothing, personal care
  • computer costs (internet)

The responsibility for paying these costs is shared between learners, their family (parents or spouse/partner if applicable) and the government.

In addition to administering student funding and scholarships and bursaries, on average, Advanced Education and Technology contributes approximately 75% of the costs of delivering a post-secondary program of study through operating grants provided to post-secondary institutions.
