Transferring Between Post-Secondary Institutions
Alberta’s transfer system, TransferAlberta, allows learners to move flexibly between different post-secondary institutions and programs.
TransferAlberta is managed by the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT), a body of committed stakeholders who work co-operatively for the benefit of learners. Members include representatives of
- post-secondary institutions
- post-secondary students
- the public
- Alberta Education
Through its annual publication, the Alberta Transfer Guide, TransferAlberta provides comprehensive tools to help students determine how their post-secondary courses and programs transfer to different institutions within Alberta.
ACAT also provides leadership in Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). This is a process of identifying, assessing, and recognizing the skills, competencies and knowledge you have gained through your learning, living and working experiences. With a successful PLAR assessment, you will receive formal recognized credit at a post-secondary institution for your prior learning.
