Accountability
Alberta's publicly funded post-secondary institutions are required to provide accountability reports such as business plans, audited financial statements and annual reports, in accordance with the following legislation:
Publicly funded institutions are governed under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act. They are funded in part by government through the provision of operating and other types of grants which are determined by criteria such as their mandate and status as a public or independent institution. These institutions may also generate revenue from
- tuition and other student fees
- the operation of ancillary services
- sponsored research funding from provincial and federal agencies and private industry
- investments and donations
Included below are accountability reports for Alberta's public post-secondary institutions.1
NOTES:
- Accountability reports for Alberta’s Independent Academic Institutions are also reviewed by the department.
- The information in the financial statements above is summarized and comparable in the Financial Information section of Advanced Education and Technology's Annual Report.
