Private Vocational Training Institutions
Vocational training programs offered by Alberta private institutions are licensed in accordance with the Private Vocational Training Act and the Private Vocational Training Regulation. In 2008/2009, there were 154 private institutions offering 819 licensed vocational training programs. These institutions and programs are listed on the Alberta Learning Information Service website.
Before enrolling in a vocational training program – a person should contact potential employers in the area in which they are seeking employment and ask whether they would hire graduates of the program they are planning to take. If the profession/occupation chosen is regulated by a professional body, the person should contact that entity to ensure that graduation from the program is recognized for employment in Alberta.
